I joined last night and was welcomed by Tybalt in just minutes. Very nice! OK, I am from NW Ohio. I have a turbo Harley Road King that is totally blacked out. It looks like something from the 50's but is very high tech, well for a Harley. I know that HD makes a pretty crude machine. I have worked on them for 40 some years. I am a retired heavy duty truck mechanic. Wrenched 30 years for a big city Fire Dept. Then my race partner and I opened a hi-perf bike shop. We raced a Pro Stock Harley for four years and traveled the US, finishing 3rd in the country and were the first Pro Stock bike in the 7's last year at Gainsville. I know there are Hyabusa's doing that in street trim but we did it with pushrods and just two cylinders. I have the most respect for some of the bikes from Japan. We tuned tons of them on our dyno. I know HD is decades behind you guys. Not my fault. I am starting to put a Hyabusa front end on my Road King. It is fast enough to need some better suspension, and brakes. I have on board data logging, HID, EGT, A/F, intercooler, ceramic coated exhaust and most HD guys just look and don't recognize any of it. It is a fun bike to ride and hopefully it will be a real improvement with a better front end. That's my story and I am sticking to it. Blackbikeguy

Welcome aboard. I guess I'm not the only one scavenging a Busa for suspension components. I'm putting a Busa shock on my FZR600. Looking forward to reading about your progress

Welcome brother ! I was raised by a Harley loving family ....so as a Busa rider, I'm the social outcast. :oh yeah:Anyway....my next ride is gonna be a Road King ....I'm keepin' the Busa though. Gotta wait on the wife to finish school first. I'd love to see some pics of the hog !

Thanks for the encouragemant and I will post some pics. I will have to improve my bike handling skills alot when I get the Busa pieces/parts working. Have always felt that two wheels are two wheels-no matter who made them. I have always built bikes that were "sleepers" you know, looked like a cruiser but were alot faster. Having just two cylinders, pushrods and a 1903 design makes the road steep to get it fast. I am a gearhead of the highest order though and trying things, making parts, well you know the drill-I can't leave anything alone. It is a sickness. Everything you do on an HD is an improvement! Looking forward to sharing with you all. Blackbikeguy

If the Busa front suspension didn't suck enough stock weight, you putting it on a HD Frame I am praying you swapped out fork springs and fluid already? Now wheres the pics :)

Yeah, I have tried trading the single piston stock brakes for 4 piston GMA's- still not real good stopping. I installed a Race-Tech front shock conversion, lowered the front and back one inch and that was an improvement over stock. Tried 10 wt shock fluid in place of Harley Type F, prolly the same thing just different bottle and MOCO price tag- not alot better. Tried different amounts of air in front shocks- MOCO recommendation is 15 max I think. Went as high as 30 and it still dives like an olympic high diver. Tried "Hi Perf Synthetic Shock Fluid" and it was like maybe 3 weight and there was no difference. Put Progressive 418 rear shocks in place of rear air shock system- that made a signicant difference. They are adjustable for compression and rebound. Installed a "True-Trak" device that links the trans bottom to the frame so the swingarm won't "hula hoop" in a high speed curve. Very scary rear wobble at like 100 plus! It is stable in a straight line and a sweeping curve but still dives bad and won't stop very well. Brakes are just another item to dress up with a chrome cover(or brake heater as I call them)in the MOCO world. The Nissan brakes are massive in comparison. With a carbon fender, the whole Busa front end will weigh less than the MOCO wheel and fender. That will be much more controlable. You can't really get your knee down on a bike like this but you can for sure make it work better! Besides, I don't want my bike to look exactly like the one next to mine at bike night! Will get some pics. I have a post in the Suspension section asking for measurements. Anyone have a few minutes and a slipstick? TIA Blackbikeguy

I have just started this project. This is what the bike looks like, sorta, actually these pics are three years old. Now it has equal length exhaust and no muffler, just a six inch long dump under the turbine on the left side. Blackbikeguy
