hey everyone... my name is Justin... a lot of people call me Jaydee/JD (my initials)... my wife doesn't cause she hates nick names. lol. well a little about myself. im 19 years old and im married and have 2 beautifull daughters. right now im currently serving month 9 of 15 months in Iraq. im in the U.S. Army if anyone was wondering. im from Tulsa, Oklahoma but my unit is from Fayetteville, NC im with the 82nd airborne div. im a gear head. i love cars. mostly sport compacts. im not a big fan of american muscle unless it's early 70's. i've got a 2005 dodge neon srt4 with 9,xxx miles on it with a DCR 2.6L stroker kit and pro series head (cost me a fortune) and alot of bolt ons to go with the engine upgrade. i also have an 89 supra that i plan to dropp and srt10 motor into when i get home. i've got the motor just need to find the time. but now im starting to get into the sport bike scene. alot of my buddies have bikes... mostly the gsxr1000 but i want something bigger. so im lookin at the gsx1300r busa. i know... it's pretty big for a first bike but my motto is... go big or go home. they all tried talkin me into getting a 600 as a starter but im better than that. im up for the challenge.
well thats about all i have to say about me. if you have any questions about anything just hollar at me. i'll get back to you as soon as i can... it can get pretty busy out here in Iraq. hope to meet alot of you and make alot of friends and i'll talk to you guys later.
later dudes

i appreciate it guys... there are alot of brits and ausie soldiers where im at (tallil, Iraq) i go to the range with them sometimes and i tell you what... those guys can blow some stuff up. lol. so tell me a little bit about bikes. my wife has one but she wont even let me touch it so i don't even know how to ride. she's got a ducati (not sure what model) but it's pretty nice. my wifes dad has a busa and it's nasty fast. never been on a bike though. my wife doesn't touch her bike... it just sits at her dads house... after we had the babies she just never rode it again. don't know why. so where would be a good place to buy one? before i deployed i was lookin at custom busas but they were wanting around 30 as a starting price.... and being 19 with a family 30 is a little too much. lol. so where would be a good place to check out used busas (online preferably lol) cause i'd like to start lookin that way when i get home i know what im lookin for.

warchief or one of the USA blokes could help you with bike purchases over there , differant here in australia.
My advise , get your liscense , start riding , then get a busa .
you need to get the skills up before hoping on one , because they will kill you if you are a novice.
buy a second hand one to start , because you will have mishaps , so dont buy new until you are ready and confident .

Welcome to BusaNation Justin ! One piece of advice ....if you're gonna start out on a Busa.....at least take a Motorcycle Safety Course, they'll give you the basics on learning to ride and survive on the streets.....plus you'll tear up their bike ( for most classes ) instead of your own. Second ....I'd forget about the $30K Busa's ....get one that is stock or close to it, make your own choices on what you want for mods and save yourself a bunch of cash. I gurantee you, when you do get a Busa .....you'll forget about the other toys . :oh yeah:I did !
Be safe over there bro and keep in touch !

hey chris... i appreciate the advice. yea... if your gonna ride a bike on post you have to go to a motorcycle safety class. it's just i do'nt think they supply the bike. i'll have to check into it... i know it's madnatory though. i just need to find a person or place that has busas for a reasonable price for me. im not really lookin too hard right now seein as i'll be out here for a few more months. but hopfully i can find what i want before i go home... and when i get home i'll know what i want and be able to buy it.

First off I would like to welcome you Justin and to thank you for your service to our country and the world. Next I would like to suggest to you that since you have never ridden a street bike before that maybe you should look for a good used Gixxer 600 or 750 to start off with. It would be better for you to learn on and you can find some nice ones for $2500-$6000. Trust me if you start with a Busa and make mistakes (and you will) you will regret it. A Busa really isnt a learners bike your friends are only telling you that because they dont want to see you get hurt. So take care keep your head down and come home safe to your wife and kids.

Things have changed since I was in the Army....I didn't know they made the classes mandatory now. There are hundreds of on-line places that have bikes .....here's a good one, so that you can get a general idea of what you're gonna spend.

well what do you guys think about a ducati? i've heard alot of good things about those bikes. i would get a gsxr but all my buddies have one... don't get me wrong they are nice bikes... but im just one of those guys that likes to be different than most. lol. but i was lookin through cycle world and there's some nice ducati race bikes. you had a good point about makin mistakes. i know i'll make mistakes and i realize now that i wouldn't want to make a mistake on a 10,000 dollar bike. lol. let alone do it at a high rate of speed. so i will take your comment into consideration... but im hard headed... bein in the military it taught me that haha but i guess i could look for a "smaller" bike. and thank you for for standing by us troops. we see all these protesters at military honored funerals holding sign saying "thank god for dead soldiers" and what not and it kills our morality. it sucks but it's what we fight for. thank you for your support.

yea... classes are mandatory now. lol. everyone hates it... but ever since the war started fatalities on bikes have risen almost 30%. our 3rd brigade element just got home about 4 months ago and 3 soldiers were already killed on bikes. so they make the class mandatory hoping to lower that percentage. it's a good thing i think. thanx for the link i'll check it out.

The ducati is a option
I had a VTR1000f firestorm , i think they call them superhawks over there , Honda 1000cc V Twins. ( honda bike to match the Ducati's V Twins)
Heaps of tourqe , love the sound too , but you had the get up and go , but they were a forgiving bike , easy to handle , hard to get into too much trouble.
V Twins are good like that and because of engine compression I belive they teach you good throttle control as well , which is esential when hoping on the Busa.

I dont know how the rest of the guys and gals on here feel but if you want my honest opinion a Duc is nothing more than the name you get a 1000 and some guy on a Gixxer 600 will out run it. I understand you not wanting to buy a Gixxer because all of your friends have one but think about this there is a reason they all have one and that is because Suzuki is the best there is out there. But like I said this is my opinion and I cant speak for everyone here at BusaNation.
