Last Wednesday picked up my new 08 orange/black busa was a great experience riding home I felt very calm and in control of the motorcycle and was having no problems what so ever then suddenly on a freeway the vehicles ahead of me brake I brake too and come to a stop I then try to move down into first, no joy gear indicator went blank I stalled pulled to the side and after about 20 secs of trying got it into gear then smooth sailing all the way home, I ride to mates to show him my new bike am about to leave and as I do from what I can make out my right foot slipped in an old oil patch and the bike falls to the right and onto its side luckily I got leg out now have scratches on right side fairing and a snapped footpeg, which brings the question of how a footpeg can break when the bike falls and it isn't even in motion? hate to see what will happen if it goes over moving. Also scraped mirror and exhaust but I was gonna replace them anyway. :crybaby2:

:welcome_horns: to the site, Geez that really sucks about the scratches. As far as the gear box problem , the busa has a "clunky" gearbox and does need a firm application, but if only for peace of mind hassle the dealer

Welcome to the forum, and very, very sad to hear of this misfortune.
The K8's occasional problem of failing to go into gear has had some amount of discussion of various Busa forums. It is discouraging. These is a work-around... sorta.
When you find you can shift down into first, try letting the clutch out *slowly* until it begins to engage, then quickly pull it in while simultaneously trying to step down into first (or up into 2nd, etc). You may have to repeat this exercise once or twice to finally get it into gear.
If it still won't shift properly, then while holding in the clutch, try walking the bike forward (or backward, whichever is better for you at the time) a couple of feet, then try the exercise again. Obviously, if you are in a scenario like you have described (stopped on a freeway), this can be dicey business.
Sorry again about your oil slick incident..... bad luck there, mate. :head meets wall:

I would also recommend loser the shifter. I find this helpes alot in shifting between gears, especially up. I had a similar issue years ago where I found I was hitting alot of flase neutrals. lowere the shifter and problem solved. As for getting the bike in gear from neutral sometimes. Yeah, roll it a little forward or disengage the clutch slightly till it moves and pull it back in.
Sorry to hear about your misfortune.

The word on the Ausie site it works itself out as the bike "settles in " . Most guys say it dissapears after Approx 500ks.

Well went for a ride today with mate was a great day for it and cannot praise the busa enough for taking pillions could barely tell he was there (previously had an R1) But stopped at Hungry Jack's (Burger King everywhere but OZ) anyway guy came in and offered to quote to fix the paint damage he is used by the local dealers and said to go check out his work but estimated $250 (AUD) but sounds good to me so hopefully will make me feel less like kicking myself in the ass everytime I look at it as I said photo's will come soon. By the way he did say he was very good at colour matching and I could probably get it done cheaper but he would guarantee a top notch job
