Someone told me that they are electronically limited to 150 mph, which doesn't sound right. Ask your buddy to test out this theory. :oh yeah:

He will soon as he gets it, but the Bking has 180HP. I'm thinking they might have changed the timing on it or used different cams. Hopefully it will be something as simple as changnig the ECM but I'm not sure. I don't suzuki would have wasted time and money developing a different head or anything for that matter for this bike when they could just limit it through some programing.

Honestly, anything after 130mph/209kph unfaired is unbelievably brutal 180hp or not.

They're here. We got a local dealer who has both the 08 busa and bking on the showroom floor to view.

No pictures but here is what a friend posted on another site from our day at the track...
Went to Cayuga testing today...lots of people there.
With a soft 1.838 60' the BKing went 10.358 @ 136.88 & was rock steady at speed.
I was only shifting at 8500 rpm (redline is 10.5)
The bike showed that there is alot of potential left.

Suspention and brakes are FAR better than the first gen Busa. It seemd to have pretty good pull on the bottom. The throttle bodys are the only part number that is changed from the Busa to the B king. The head has a different part number but I think its due to a color change. The Valves, Springs, Cams etc are all the same.

I have had my 08 B-King about 10 days now with 6 of them being ride able. I have 1100 miles so far. The pluses: Power and Torque whether it is geared differently or Cammed differently it has tremendous torques n the lower ranges. It is subjective but I would say that I am getting as much torque down low as the Ducati I traded in for it. Leaning into the throttle in any gear except 1st will put you into the triple digits very quickly. (1st you will be standing straight up) The riding position is great, Sitting almost straight up with a slight lean into the bars 200 miles without a break is not an issue. The stock pegs put your feet in line with your hips, allowing you to use you legs the way you might on a larger dirt bike. It also aids low speed situational awareness. The brakes on this beast are great! Easily modulated they quickly slow this big beast and feel every bit as effective as the Brembos that were on the 999. ( they are superior enough that I am getting a quote on adding radial master cylinders to to my 05 busa)
All of this combines to give a comfortable bike that while certainly not as nimble as a 600 cc or 1 liter sport bike coming into a corner you can shed speed enough to enjoy an insane lean angle all the way thru and an incredibly amount of torque to role you out much faster then most of the smaller machines. This will paste a grin on your face very quickly.
The down side: Lets face it the bike is uglier than a mud fence. Mine has the rear end cleaned up with a 2 brothers slip on's and under tail which helps a lot but it is wide (30 inches at it widest point) The best view of the bike is across the handle bars and from that view this thing is beautiful!
It is an orphan bike here in the states (first thing I ordered was a shop manual ) After market options are sparse ( getting a windshield that work in the states has been a nightmare)
All in All this is great bike and if you have a Suzuki Dealer who more than one near you, walk in and tell them you want to test ride it You will have a riot and odds are you can get it for very short money.
