Busa Boy 13

I'm new to this site so any help would be greatly appreciated.

I have an 02 Busa. The mods are as followed: Unmapped Power Commander, Velocity Stacks ( The Stacks aimed towards midrange power), Intake Cam swap( Exhaust cam swapped in it's place), Cams have been degreed, Full air box mod, P.A.I.R. Mod, TRE, K & N Air filter, +3 teeth in the rear, stock drive gear. Stretched 6 inchs, lowered 1/2 in front ,3/4 in the rear and full two brothers exhaust 4 into 1. The problem im having with this R1 is that he has a set-up that consist of Mapped power commander, stretched 6 inchs, lowered inch all the way around, velocity stacks and air filter and I cant beat on the highway or on the track (Dragstrip)!
I know the power commander needs to be mapped and thats next but when done what kind of power gains can I expect as well as what else can I do to let him see my tail light instead of me seeing his?:head meets wall:

First get the bike tuned properly, but that is not going to allow you to beat this guy. Tuning might only get you 2-5HP. It is more about the proper fuelling to keep your motor safe. Switch bikes, and I would bet that he would still beat you.
You need to work on your riding skills. You should go to the track, and practice, practice, practice. If your bike is setup properly(PC Tuning), you should be able to get into the 9s. His bike should be about the same, so if you are equal riders, you should be racing side by side, neither of you should theoretically see eithers taillights.

I have drag raced 2 R1's, an 03 and an 07 that belonged to a friend of mine and he wanted me to try my hand at them to see how they would run since he has limited racing experience. I have also owned and raced 2 Busas, an 04 and an 08. I would have to agree that it is not your bike that is getting beaten but you that is losing. The Busa is considerably easier to launch due to the torque and with a few minor tweaks can runn deep in the 9's with even a novice rider and you won'y see an R1 doing that without Ricky Gadson in the seat. You probably just need a little more track time and someones help who is a good racer.

Personally I would toss that pipe and get something better like a Brock's, second I would get rid of the K&N air filter, third get the bike tuned, and fourth learn to ride. All the power in the world isn't going to get you ahead if you aren't getting the full potential from the bike.

As other have said, what do you weight and what do you run at the track...?

You should dyno in the 180's with that setup so if it's tuned you've got more than enough power. If you've got the riding covered then my only other question would be does he have hidden nitrous? You shouldn't be getting beat like that by an R1.

There is no need for boost or Nitrous to stomp an R1! I have a dry spray on my '08 and have never used it to defeat an R1 on the strip. Some racing experience and someone to teach you how to launch hard is all that is needed, the Busa will pretty much do the rest for you.

+10, you need to master your skills and the raw potential of your bike first, then move on to other skill mastery one at a time!

Most people will blame their bike before themselves, go to the track for practice only. I know its hard to get the competitive worries out of your head when your on the line with other person on the otherside. Just focus on you and want to gain.
Like anything, good training and self discipline win everytime, its a long road but it always pays off!!

No need but i bet you much more fun, and to be honest i do my stomping on the street not the strip so i could not comment. ofcourse a stock bike will do it but i like real power say 350hp plus.... Just me
