Ok , I know this is a WFO topic but my question is :
How much horsepower should a Gen II Busa have ?
In particular MINE ! 2009 Busa . I put Muzzy slip ons and a K&N
filter. It seemed like it wasn't running right after that. A little surging.
My guess was that the bike just wanted to be free and have a proper
parts mod and a good dyno tune. So I purchased a 4into1 Muzzy stainless header for her. Reason I stayed with the Muzzy is because it allowed me to use the can and only have to buy header and midpipe.
I purchased a Power commander V, Healtech XTRE as well as Schnitz block off plates . So off I went to the local speed shop which came highly recommended by word of mouth as well as internet chatter.
Upon arrival we did a baseline pull and then the mods and another series of runs while tuning followed by a final set of figure gathering runs. Machine used is I believe Dynojet 250i.

STOCK NUMBERS WERE :
MAX HP 164.64
MAX TORQUE 97.08

AFTER MODS :
MAX HP 182.25
MAX TORQUE 104.95

I live in south Fl. at sea level. I always get confused as to whether you make more or less here ? I am curious about the figures because all the numbers I see for others are higher. I have even seen article by 'Got-Busa" where his made 180 out of the crate ? I have seen some in the high 190s after the same mods just maybe a different pipe. I figured XTRE would make a HP diff ?
The throttle feels so much lighter now. The bike revs so much quicker now. It is the way an American Jap bike should be ! An opened up dyno tuned monster.
Now granted I did gain almost 18hp which is a respectable number and seat of the pants feel is definitely different. On a Hayabusa will I miss the loss of a few ponies on top ? Not around here but I still wonder
where ya'll think she should be or if this is respectable for sea level in SoFla ?

I have posted dyno runs below.

OPINIONS ????

forget the figures. As you have said it feels better to you, so really that's all that matters. just enjoy it knowing its running perfect.

EVERY DYNO READS DIFFERENT

Now that that is said, my stock 08 did 168/101 absolutely stock.
Some have read higher, some lower, but that is due to a different dyno with a different dyno operator on a different day at a different altitude(see a pattern?)

As for the altitude question, air is denser the lower that you are, so sea level is ideal for making power, whereas your bike in Denver might be down 10+hp.

Overall, I would be happy with 180 or so rear wheel horsepower. In the old days full race motors that would last less than a season of riding would only make about 150hp.

This is the golden age!

This is the golden age!that is good mine put out 170 hp and 183 mph with power commander k&n air filter and two bros dual i probably could have gotten more probably with 4 into 1 but with my riding style no need to spend the extra money for that my bike will never see the track just twisties and the slab. The dyno tech said bikes put different hp depending on how they are broken and the exhaust.

I'm fine , rode today. Seat of the pants feel is incredibly different. Some on another forum are not in favor of Healtech XTRE. I believe it to be the reason the bike revs so much quicker and freer now as well as accelerating from down low much quicker or at least a contributing factor.

What say y'all ? :cheers::banana:

My 08 made 186hp (corrected) under load with 40%RH and 85deg. With only a Brocks Alien head 4-2-1, a power commander w/street tune and pump gas. Like the other guy said, its all up to the operator, elevation and conditions. Anything over 180 with mild mods is respectable!

+1

Yeah it is crazy how the numbers can differ depending on dyno, calibration, weather etc. Not to mention bikes manufactured at different times can have different hp outcomes. Not to mention different manufactures of pipes make a difference as well. From my experience, the ones i have seen get good consistant gains are brocks and akrapovic. I put a full akrapovic, pcV, pair valve mod, and XTRE and after the full tune it was 191.23hp 113.65 max torque with 81 degrees and 5% humidity.

you are right in there. Mine made 153 stock. Don't get hung up on the number. The comparison of before/after is a good one though. that 20ish hp increase is HUGE! getting 20HP out of my engine would run me about $8,000 or more.
