So for a couple of years now I've throwing around a couple of ideas in my head of building a trike (2 wheels in the front) with a low center of gravity. The idea came to me after looking at campagna's Trex for a while but I found that the Trex was too big and heavy and wasn't much like a motorcycle. I wanted something that maintained the rider/driver in the middle and also the riding position.
My first idea was to take an ATV and slap a busa motor and busa swingarm on it but I thought that would probably be too high and no good for ripping around corners. You'd have to be seated much lower and front wheels would need to be much more spread apart to hold the road better. I thought wouldn't it be cool to be in a sort of laying position like in full race tuck while driving something like that?
Some months later I thought up with something else. Imagine riding something with the same design except instead of laying back like a chopper. The motor would be between your legs but more infront of you like a SUPER low chopper but with 2 wheels in the front. That would be pretty damn cool! It would hold the road well too since it's so low to the ground and the front is so wide.
Then I thought why not take it a bit further, scrap the chopper idea, make it a bucket seat like an F1 car and have the front wheels tilt while cornering kinda like the Trex.
Finally I thought, how about this, same concept as a Trex with the F1 bucket seat but the motor being mounted beside you as your passenger? Shorter then the Trex, lighter and quicker!
Now it's one thing when you're throwing ideas around in your head and thinking about how it would hold the road and it's another when you get to see your ideas come to life.
I was surfing the net at work a few hours ago and I came across some very interesting things. Things only mad men would think up. Someone loopy such as myself. Check these out!
My favorite is the Aprilia magnet, that would be such a retarded fun time. The Spykster is also radical!
Now before someone comes up with it, I'd like to share my latest idea in the world of trikes. Take the Aprilia magnet and imagine the front wheels moved forward as you accellerated where they almost met in the front and spread apart everytime you braked before slamming it into a turn to get that added stability? Sounds crazy huh, well all my ideas sounded crazy and looks like they've been working:whistling:
