I have a 07 busa. In second gear under a full throttle acceleration around 8000-10000 RPM it pops out of second and back in again very quickly. It feels like you hit the kill switch then kicked it back on. The bike does no rev out just feels like it skips, like its coming out of gear and back in again. I put a new stock clutch in and it changed nothing, problem still there no better no worse. Any Ideas. I have the bike torn down ready to pull the motor out but thought i would take a break on get some opinions before I drop its guts on the floor. If it is a gear issue does anyone have a source for a better undercut gear set?

I thought I had trans problems like this on my '06. It turned out to be the fact that my rear tire was worn and the "trans popping out of gear" feeling was actually the tire breaking traction.

Are the wear bars on your rear tire visible?

I just put new Michelin "Pilot Powers" on about 3 weeks ago and have them scrubbed in well, No chicken strip. I am 99.9% positive that it is not the rear tire. I do believe its the trans gears or maybe a shift dog. It is more evident when I have the wife on back, I hope she does not read this. I'm not saying she is fat :) I'm just trying to state that more load under acceleration makes the slipping more evident. "GOD I HOPE SHE IS NOT A MEMBER OF THIS SIGHT". Just like to hear if anyone has this issue or similar and possible resolve. I bought the bike used for a good deal and now am finding out why. But hell it gives me something to work on. I like wrenching on my bikes just don't want to crack open the case for the wrong reason. I know once I have it apart its going to be like Christmas on the internet, I need this and this and maybe some of these. That aught to do it....... well maybe some of these too and this. LOL

I pulled the motor and guess what I found. The lugs for the 2nd gear are rounded off, hence the reason for popping out of gear. As long as I got it apart I'm going to replace the main bearings on the crank, connecting rod bearings, tranni output bearing and the worn tranni gears. everything else seems to be in spec. Now I know why I got it for so cheap. I figure I'll have about 4000.00 into it when all said and done, that's with the purchase price f the bike. Not bad!

While you have everything apart you should look into having your tranny undercut,,Its cheap insurance for down the road if you start drag racing,,

I was thinking about that. I used to Race CRA up at Brainerd International Raceway in Minnesota but my racing days are long over. I ran a 89 and a 92 GSXR 750. When you have very little sponsorship you learn how to work on your own bike. Any good shops to have the gears undercut?

I would try Fast by Gast in Grand Island NY for the tranny work,,he`s been around a long time and knows his stuff,,

You have come this far just get the tranny undercut and be done with it! Just Google "Hayabusa 2nd gear problems" and see why you should do it! Just my 2 cents!

Check that output shaft good. They've been known to go as well. ou can buy a better one, but if you're not racing and the original is in good shape you should be alright.
