Only thing I can add to help you out is if you are planning on spraying stay away from the 1429 due to boring cylnders piston walls become dangeriously thin making easy to lift the head when spraying. Most popular combo for mainly street riding is the 1397 package as long as you do not go too high on compression and run too radical of cams.

What ever you do make sure you budget for proper headwork and cam setup,,Its not cheap but a properly done head can open up a lot more hp everywhere on the power curve,,
I would check Cooper or KWS performance for what they recommend for bore sizes, headwork and cam setups,,

i was thinking of going with APE for the head work and the big bore kit.

1397 and stay below 395 lift on the cams and you should have a nice reliable package with plenty of low end grunt.

Are you going to build it yourself or have someone assemble it for you?
