Anyone know anything about GSXR 600. My friend has a 07 with the oil light on and when I ask how long the light was on she said two weeks. I'm thinking it must has oil pressure or the thing would be dead by now. Maybe a sending unit? Any ideas ????

Top it up and if the light goes off we then know you can drive a 600 gixxer around short a few liters of oil. :whistling:

It has enough oil according to the glass on the case. When I start the engine the oil level drops so I know the pump is working. The level is just at the top of the glass.

Local shop thinks it's the crank bearing. They want to change the oil to see if it will show bearing parts. I can't beleave a 07 would have bearing failure with a couple thousand mile and a girl rider to boot. She rides it like a old woman. I hope they are way off with this one.

I would say if she has been riding two weeks and the motor doesn`t have any loud rattles and runs fine then its probably the oil pressure sending unit or the wiring harness,,It definately wouldn`t have lasted that long without oil pressure,,

worst case could be crank bearings. has any motor work been done recently? clutches? the pickup on the oil pump could be stopped up or at least partially blocked causing a loss in oil pressure. I have seen on a few kawasakis, no suzukis but still possible that after an oil change they can be air locked. ( have some air between the filter and pump) the best way to fix that is unscrew the filter a little and let it run for just a second.

Checking for bits in the oil is a good idea but I'd sure want to eliminate all other easy options before I started tearing onto a new motor.

The engine has never been into. I asked thinking the samething about the oil pickup screen. My friend just lost the crank due to clutch fibers blocked the oil pickup screen and starved the engine. This bike runs too good to be anything major. I hope.
