Here in Victoria ( australia) yesterday we had 46.8 degree celcius in the city and 48 degree celcius in the country .
hotest day ever since records have been kept since mid 1800's.
winds at over 100 kmph

25 dead at the moment , fires all over the state . ( DEATH TOLL IS STILL RISING BY THE HOURS )

I dont know about other countrys but we have 2 fire brigades , the metropolitan fire brigades ( citys ) they are full time firies , and then our CFA ( country fire brigade ) .
The CFA boys are all volenteers , they live in the towns and the bells ring and they respond , these blokes take time off work and fight fires and sacrafice them selves , there familys and there livelyhoods to save others .

They can be fighting fires elsewhere when fires are licking at there own homes , but they stay and fight .

these blokes are HEROS
THESE BLOKES WERE OUT ALLDAY YESTERDAY IN THAT TEMPRETURE SAVING LIVES , PROPERTY AND STOCK .

if you live in a country town spare these blokes a thought for what they sacrafice to keep us alive .

all you can do is donate to them so the funds go too buying them better equipment , because all there stuff is second hand or old or hand me downs from the metrapolitian boys .
some stations have had to build there own tankers , because they cant get funding .

donate to your firies , if you see one on the road .....thank them .
christ even buy a slab of beer and drop it down the station for the boys , to show your appreciattion for what they give up for us .

SUPPORT YOUR HEROS .

 Well said Doc. Most of our fireman out in the country areas are the same....volunteer with not the best of equipment. We have raffles and the ladies have bake sales to support them from time to time. Most of the tax money goes to the "city" fire houses, while the country guys have to make due with limited budgets.

181 dead , 1800 homes lost , 7000 people homes or displaced .
Entire communitys and whole townships wiped from the map, just devestating .
Fires are rated on a heat scale , 0-100 the fire was rated at 300 .
people didnt stand a chance , and there still burning in some areas and fire bugs are lighting more.

This is the worst fire in australias history , we are a rugged land , and bush fires are a way of life here , but this was something that know one could have phathomed.

Its a tragedy beyond comprehension, and its been suggested that they were deliberately started and people were spotted restarting the fires .
Our firefighters are heros , my thoughts are with all those effected by this in Victoria http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ELqGQweGbTs&feature=related

The wind factor is helping the fire destroying the zone. Sorry to here what's happening down there. Let's us pray no more lives are taken from this fire.
