attached you will find photo's of one of my turbo bikes piston, water was found in the Fuel tank. The tuner says that this could have been the problem, i dont belive this!!! I think the bike may have run lean, or im told another possibility may be that when the conversion was done the original k8 pistons where left in the bike even though the boost was at 8.7psi or 0.6bar with a spacer plate.
Im told by one tuner that because of this, the gap between the pistons and the barrel walls was to small and that when the bike ran hot under full boost the pistons being standard when this hot would have expanded and caused this:surprise::rant::surprise:
Any suggestions? what may have been the cause? and whats the fix?
Im thinking that the only way to make sure this dosnt happen again is we put wiseco turbo pistons in, we ceramic coat the head, valves and pistons and we re Nicasil the barrels. would this solve the problem???
Any specialists out there please help???!!!!!!!!!

someone didnt build your motor correctly is what it looks to be (at least thats what i see)

so did you pay for turbo pistons? what do the cylinders look like?
did the bike do any hi-speed runs for any great distance?

those are factory pistons and it looks like a ring was pulled out and rubbed bad and ruined the piston itself
i dont know what to tell you but it seems that something wasnt installed right
as devil's advocate asked
did you pay for turbo pistons?
it doesnt look like melted pistons (been there done that) they look rubbed hard and this could be where you smoke issue was also coming from ??

That is exactly what a piston looks like when it goes lean and rocks in the bore.

good talkin to you
it appears that from our talk you had a few issues
the bad gas didnt help but also it sounds like the motor wasnt built like you paid for it to be built
and it looks like a ring pulled out and rubbed the wall bad and this caued the damage and also the gas didnt help the issue
i will try and get a burnt piston pic up so you can see where they burn up and what they look like when they melt
i think you need to reevaluate what the builder is doing and see if there is another builder to do the work or have a builder over here do the work
ever aspect of the motor needs to be exact or there is failures
sorry for the bad luck but we will try and help how we can

Thanks for all the help....
I'll take a photo of the jugs tomorrow and post...
As you say, maybe send the bike there for a build, but its definatly gonna have to be a bit warmer before i do that Lol....

Not your typical lean burnt turbo piston, typically the piston will burn or melt at the intake valve pockets, your pistons are scoured on the sides which would lead me to believe you have bent connecting rods,

good point
i was forgetting the bent rod idea
i was tryin to see if i could spot the rings also
he says he is going to post the pic of the jugs as they are really hurt also

The ceramic coating may have protected the valve pockets ??
does look like the piston clearance was inadequate , maybe a hot spot on the cyl wall where 2 cyl are closest or headgasket leak heating between cyls
I think ring end gap probs would have done more cyl damage

DING, DING, DING....We have a winner...turbo pistons need more clearances. Nothing more or less, prolonged high speed passes are tough on an engine.
