Hi,
Now I have around 2500 miles (4000 kms) with my K7 busa, and I notice an increase in fuel consumption of a 15% more than initial after braking-in period.
My busa friends have better mileage with their bikes, all with many more miles than I.
It's possible that fuel mileage could be better or stabilized in a future? for example with 5000 miles or more.
I use 95 or 98 oct. fuel (mainly 95) and Mobil 1 racing 4T fully synt. oil 15w50

Maybe after 4000k your confidence has grown & your more aggressive with the throttle now ? I know i did
Is the air cleaner dirty ?

I don't know how Aire cleaner is. I don't see it since last service manual.
I running mix 50/50:
-70/80 Km/h (40/50 m/h) in 2nd or 3rd gear (around 5.000 rpm)
-100-140 km/h (60-85 m/h) when it's possible at 4th or 5th gear;(around 5.000 rpm)
and when I pass or make an advancement or in a wide road, I make accelerations up to 160-180 Km/h (95/110 m/h) stretching gears until 7.000 or 9.000 rpm.
My fuel consump. during breaking-in period was of 6,5 litres each 100 kilometers (1.7 gallons / 60 miles)
Now is between 7-8 litres (1.85 - 2.11 gallons)
But a lot of people reports fuel average much better than I :umm:

I generally average 6-7 litres per 100 just cruising & i cruise at a lot less rpm than you.
It'll use 11-12 if im having some fun.
You soon learn where all the servo's are !

Thanks for you reply. I understand it's perfectly normal my average.

I don't understand exactly what it means 'servo':umm:

I think he means GAS STATIONS for Fuel Stops.

If you want to save cash, hwy speeds of 110kmh 6 gear, you should come close to 340 kms per tank, this has been my average and thats to the warning light.
Several things determine gas mileage, barametic pressure, altitude, fuel, humidity, air temp, debris in the air filter, spark plugs, etc, etc...
I dont now what else to say, each machine has it's differences, I realized my Busa hates stock plugs, I switched to irridium and it runs way better, but I shouldnt need to run irridium plugs, stock should be perfect but the bike runs crappy on stock plugs.

I am still getting awesome fuel economy. Bike has 6500 on it and gets 450 - 500 a tank cruising at about 110 - 120km/h with the occasional blat to 180. I get over 50 km's with the fuel light on with plenty to spare. With fuel light on blasting the ass off it it still gets over 50km. Never run out of fuel yet. Very very happy.

Yeah sorry, bit of aussie slang. Servo = petrol/gas station.

Nice, I always say this to my friends (they say me I'm crazy:confused:) I live in a county with different preasure and humydity (it's a volcanic area with a lot of humidity) and when I down to the coast, my fuel average is a little better.
They live in a wide county with no hills and no descents...

I will have in mind the iridium spark plugs.

.
But, run 110 Km/h in 6th gear it is not a little down rev. for engine health?

When fuel light it's on I can make an average of 50-60 Kms more perfectly (and I believe that it could do some more)

iwouldnt worry about engine health problems when your running at mid 3000-3500 rpms on the highway in 6th gear, oil pressure and charging are being maintained.
We have excellent speed weather here in the late summer into fall, cool dry air makes for better combustion due to the cold air is condensed.

Busa's will happily cruise along at low rpm, 3000 - 3500. Not like a supersport bike.
Its a big engine after all

Same thing to me...My K8 is my first busa after some others bikes...and after hearing many histories of these beast I have to admit that first rides I overreact in the maner that I was to easy with it...drive in mode C...after the obligatory, inevitable, unavoidable busa tameing I just do Mode A and from first ride to now...wow! this bike is a fueloholic, open the throttle and the fuel will go fast, somethimes I think that the tank has a big hole in the bottom

I just ride. I don't worry about consumption on the Busa, just my Harley. I spend too much time hitting the interstate or larger highways and running it up to 85-90 then slowing down and doing it again to worry about fuel mileage.

Just a comment from the peanut gallery. On my Gen 2, I like to do a lot of tour riding on the bike with a some twisties...with that said, as I broke the engine in and miles added on Sasha began to get better mileage. Commonly I average about 52mpg and I am at 5000 miles on the bike. When I first started out I was averaging about 27 mpg. You will see some moderation on your mileage until everything seats in your bike.
