I am an amazed new owner of a 2008 Hayabusa. I have owned a few liter bikes in my day. I always wanted a Hayabusa being that drag race loving guy that I am, but I loved carving corners and wheelies as much so I stuck to liter bikes.......Now I am older and wanting something alittle more comfortable I bought the Busa. Why had I waited so long. This thing is the best alround bike ever made...
Enough drooling. I haven't drag raced in 10 YRS.
Is it feasable to get a box stock 08 Busa in the 9's with a 260 lbs. rider? Foot shifting, stock wheel base, 50 lbs exhaust and all. I will strap the front, possible dog bone the back.
What is the deal with the stock clutch back limiter....will it break?
This will be a daily driven, canyon carving, wheelie riding, grocery getting machine......that however must put a fat boy in the nines.
I thought about brocks clutch mod, but wondered how that would fair in a daily driver. I ride the Pee out of my streetbikes....It must be safe and dependable.
Please Help Me Get This Bike Moving.

Heya Trent
May be possible if you are within 500 ft of sea level, humidity is right, and the temp is cool. But don't expect it in your first run or the next 20 runs...it takes time to get it down.

Definitely do the clutch mod with the cushion kit also. Makes a BIG difference, and helps that clutch from rippin the basket apart.
Remember...you would be bracket racing also, so being the fastest doesn't matter...consistency is the key. If you want to be the fastest all out...open up the wallet. Don't worry....you'll still woop a 14 hands down:goodboy:

Tony

Yes you can hit 9's at that weight. Seat time, lowered, strapped, piped, tuned...

i have a 08 stretched 4 inches up one tooth on the rear sprocket, air shifter, strapped in the front with slip ons and a power commander running 9.60s consistently with a 170lb rider

You will see some 9.30's with cooler air this winter...

I doubt you will see the 9's with a stock bike and that weight. Here is my attempt, though these are the first passes on the bike.

I think you would either have to up the Hp, lose weight, or both with a pipe and PCIII, etc.
Then you have to launch it. Straps, dog bones or ALOT of talent might get you close.
But, us "plus" sized riders are at a clear disadvantage to the little "jockeys" out there.

CORRECTION... That is 9.5s with a 200lb rider! Just stating the facts. Though i wish i was 170!

Wow 9.5's is really moving. What times did you pull down when it was bone stock?

LeeY8s owns the bike. I never rode the bike stock wheelbase. He put the extensions on it and lowered it. Put some little slipon tips on it, and air shifter and PCIII. Cut a 1.47 60ft, 6.2s 1/8mile and 9.5s in the 1/4mile. NO POWER ADDER. 08 busas are no joke. With more seat time and good tune. No reason this bike couldnt go low 9.3s or faster with my 200lbs on it. LeeY8s has nice platform for what could eventually be a beast!
