Finally a good article on the 2nd Gen Vmax. Here's is the opening paragraph.

"Cutting straight to the point, I’m going to answer the question on the tip of everyone’s lips. Yes. The VMAX is quicker than a Hayabusa, ZX-14, B-King, K 1200 S and everything else on the street. And yes. The VMAX is even quicker than our own GSX1620 monster built last year. Make no mistake. This is no H-D wannabe cruiser. This is a wild machine that’ll knock your boots off and strain your neck. This is the ultimate in acceleration-induced adrenaline. And stupid fun. Really stupid fun!"

I like it , I've always liked them, since the first time I saw one back in the 80's! And with sub 10's in the 1/4 ....it is quick. But Geeeezz...a price tag of over $29K ? :surprise: Kinda reminds me of the Harley Destroyer with the quickness & high price tag.

I think it is 29K in aussie dollars but is 16k in the US and about 20k in Canada. It is pricey for what you are getting. However I see Duane is selling his 08 Busa, he is buying a new Vmax!

I will wait for a head to head comparison(you know it will happen).
It weighs alot more than a busa/ZX14 and only has 3 more HP at the motor. Factor in that shaft drives eat power, and I can't see it being faster than the bus.

Alot of hype for a underperformer :umm: For that kind of money I could get a real bike (BUSA) and mod it to F*ck !! and not worry about performance issues:bananahump:. lol

Yeah, my connection at the dealership says around $17,000 U.S. out the door.

They are SUPER BADASS bikes, but the price for me is too damn high, unless I win the lottery.

I rode a new vmax at bikes, blues and bbq at the STAR -Yamaha demo rides and it run great but it did not seem any faster than my B-king and it did not even come close to cornering as good !

Boy, did this turn out to be a lie.
The 09 VMax is a powerful, over weight, hyped tire burner
that can't get traction. It is about twice the price of
the superior B-King (documented), gets lousy mileage and
has a short-hop driving range only.

But a lot of folks are still buying them.

I hope some fellas have these at the strip this year....I might have to leave my mirrors on so I can see how far back they are before the 1/4.
:nyah nyah:

Cheers,

Tony

You are out of your mind.one of my buddys has one. There is no way he keeps up with my k8 busa.his bike tops out around 142.mph.we have raced on 1/4 mile tracks.it runs low 10s.don't get me wrong.they are super fast for the weight. And shaft drive. But they will never touch a busa.sorry, but if you wanted stupid speed... should have bought a busa

Read a bit closer. page 2

"The B-King likes the same quick hand on the clutch, but more grip and less torque right off the bottom let Gene come off the line at 5000 rpm. Bottom line? Punting a 700-lb. motorcycle down the quarter-mile takes a balance of power and traction. The V-Max has plenty of the former, but on this track, on this day, it couldn't come up with enough of the latter, managing a 10.41-second best at 137.4 mph to the 'King's 10.13 at 139.31. More grip would likely shave upward of a half-second off those times, but it wouldn't change the order: Suzuki's B-King still rules the strip."
