I'm having a swingarm made for my 08 and not sure how long to go. I don't want to go past the tail light. It looks like about 4 or 5 inches over stock. Anyone know what works best?

4-6 seems to work pretty good with the stock shock set up, after that it starts to get harder to dial in with either spinning or hooking.

Have you lowered your bike? I can't tell from the pics but it looks like stock height.

had it lowered at one time and it looked mean but you cant have a passenger at that height unless you go with air suspension. so i had to raise it back up so my wife could ride with me. Gonna save up for air suspension so i can have mine lowered when i ride solo

Do you have any pics of the bike lowered? The 08 has that drop in the new tail section and I don't want to have a problem with the tail light hitting the tire on a hard launch. I have seen guys at the track take the tail light out to prevent that from happening.

I had my 08 lowered 1 1/2 in in the rear and when I launched @ the track it was scrubbin on the tail light and inner fender I had to go back to stock height also it still hooks great it just tries to wheelie in 1st 2nd and sometimes in 3rd I'm at about 5 1/2 inches extended alot like the pic above.

Wheelie

Anyone know what works best?I have 7" extensions on mine, just ordered a Mcintosh 12" over, you didnt mention drag racing, 4-5 will help the launch, but it will still wheelie, which means you have to let out of the throttle. so it depends on how fast you want to go. I can only get high 5.80's right now in the 1/8th, I hope the longer arm will get high 5.70's

At 4 inch set back you shouldn't have to worry about your taillight much only 6 inch or more does the light come into play when you lower it.

Fixin to lower mine back down so i will take some photos and post them up for ya this weekend... just pm me if forget. i get that CRS (Can't Remember Shit) stuff every once in awhile.

I just got my new swingarm today. We took a 07 sxtented it 4" and added the brake slide on the right side. Powercoated black and plan to install it this weekend. Powercoat looked like shit so it painted over it to look like the frame. Hope it sticks. Let you know how it turns out.

The install went on without too much problem. There is a defferents between the 07 and 08 swingarm. The bearning that the dog bog hooks to is different. The shop that I was at had a larger selection of bearning so it was not much of a problem. It looks great. The wheelie problem is gone now it want to spin the tire. I will down load pics as soon as I figure out how.

So that arm is from an 07 and you put it on an 08. What has to be done to make them work ??

You need to make a slot on the brake side os the swingarm for the brake to slide into. Also the bearning that the lower link hooks up to is a different size. Other than that it is the same. the guy who made mine had experence with making swingarms and did a great job.

Ran the busa this weekend with the new swingarm not at the dragstrip but on the back roads with some friends. The guy on the gsxr 1000 that had been killing me now can't keep up with me out the hole. This thing leaves hard with the front end about six inches of the ground. I think the four inch extention was perfect for my weight and style. Can't wait to go to the drag strip.
