Just back from a 3500 mile trip around europe on my 2002 hayabusa.
Before I left, I changed the oil, and I had the oil level at full, but when I returned after 2 weeks, the oil level was below the low level mark.
Is this normal, does it use oil between oil changes?
The oil I am using is Castrol Fully synthetic 10W 40

No, that is not normal. Was the bike up to operating temps and level both times.

Hi gents. I was just rechecking all "the oldies" and I know that this is VERY late post-reply but I would like to put my 5cents from my small experience just for future.
I say YES, it can be true and possible. After my long (for me :-) 2007 Europe trip on my very first big bike 2000 busa I've done almost 4000 miles in few weeks riding. I was really surprised that my busa can drink so much oil. I had to top it up few times and used about 800/900ml (if I remember right). I thought it was too much for touring and playing with/in town traffic but I was topping it up and no worries.
I was so curious about that issue that I went straight to my dealer for some answers straight I got back home. Do you know what was their answer ..... was their answer hahaha
But they behaved professionally and promised to call "Suzuki's higher services" to get my questions answered  After few days of waiting I got call back from them and the answer was .... everything is in optional operations !!! And they said that obviously not every engine is 100% the same and that might use/burn some oil too. They advised that maximum recommended by Suzuki is 1cc per 1mile and only above that you should be worried !!! So if I'm not mistaken and 1cc means 1cubic ..... if you multiply that by 1000 in worst for you scenario you can end up using 1liter of oil for each 1000miles ??!!!!!!!
If Suzuki is okay with those numbers I'm too :smoke:

All brands say the same: untill 1 liter for each 1.000 Kms (600 miles) but i think is too much oil for an engine in normal conditions...
