I am a rookie with the Busa, I just bought a 2000 and I love it! anyone have any hints on what I should watch for and stuff I could do to it?
On the pre 03 bikes the starter would kick back due to a low battery and damage the starter gears.
Do a search on Hayabusa starter gears, there is lots of information out there.
As for mods the sky is the limit. What did you want to do with it?
cheers

Hello, All.....
New 'Busa owner. Just purchased a 2011 about a month ago.
Unfortunately, lost our home during the Central Tx. wildfires.
Make a long story short: lot's of mods coming in, and no place to mount them....
Hate paying for work in a shop, but had the AlienHead and PCV put on last week.
Still need to put on Helibars, GorillaZilla rearsets, +1 dog bones, etc. 13694

@Frignhign - I run Michelin Pilot Road 2ct on the rear and Pilot Power 2ct on the front and have never had an issue with them. Everyone has their own tyres though so these may not feel the same for you as they do for me. It will also depend on what sort of riding you will be doing.

Hello,
I'm a newbe here. Just picked up a used 2008 Busa with 1100 miles a month ago in Medford OR. I've had a number of bikes over the years but never a sport bike. Looking forward to spring so I can take it for a long ride. The one pic was from the Cl add that the car dealership posted. The other was when it was in my pickup on the chilly morning I returned with it to Idaho.

I've got several other bikes I've collected over the years: 04' ST1300A, 09' KLR 650, 79' GS850GN, 77' CB400F.
I'm quickly approaching 60 and I wanted just one more high performance motorcycle. The Busa should fit the bill. Years ago I bought a new 1981 GS1100EX which was the fastest production motorcycle then I believe. I put 40K on it. It was a blast to ride and had about 105 HP at the crank I believe----wish I still had it. THe ST is no slouch and reminds me a lot of the EX in the HP department with about 125 HP at the Crank but a much heavier bike. The Busa is in a whole new league from anything I've ever owned. I'm looking forward to riding it when the weather warms a bit.

Only rode my Busa once on a test ride and I just had to have it, what a machine! Cant wait until Friday night when ill be in my garage with the radio, a few beers, a bottle of polish and my bike as im a bit of a polishing deviant on the side. Sorry about no photo but as im not home until tomorrow I cant take any snaps until then, soon as im back I will. I will post pictures once all done, i live about 300 meters from the famous Spondon engineering which have produced some very nice frames and swinging arms.

Hello All
Currently riding my second Hayabusa, a blue/silver 2005:
http://farm8.staticflickr.com/7048/6995084319_62887e7454_b.jpg
My first was a black/grey 2001:
http://farm3.staticflickr.com/2742/4418153664_cbfb087973_b.jpg
Traded the 2001 in last summer with 64,400kms on the odo on the 2005. The '05 was used, but only had 4,700kms on it so was basically new. I moved most of my mods from the old bike to the new since they were both Gen1's. Mods include Yosh slip-ons, K&N filter, Gripster tank pads and GiPro TRE w/gear indicator. I left the steel braided HEL brake lines on the old bike... too much trouble. I added T-Rex frame sliders and Oxford heated grips to the new bike as it can get somewhat chilly in the early sping/late fall here in eastern Ontario. The grips are the best mod I have ever done to any bike. A must for cold-weather riding.
Anyway, glad to be here and I'm off to look around the forum. Cheers!

Hello from ky, new to the busa world but not to bikes , started on 99 r6, couple months later got a 01r1, then couple months later got a 06 Gsxr 1000. I geared it, slammed it, and raced it, best time on it was a 1.51 sixty, 6.11 1/8, and think 9.3 1/4 (not a local 1/4 mile so I focused on 1/8)

Brakes are made by BRAKING in Italy. Unlike Buell, there are 2 perimeter rotors.
They are quite rare and no longer produced.
At least 2x stronger than stock brakes.

Ah yes need to pay more attention :D
Very nice looking setup!!
Now dont take this the wrong way just a little constructive criticism but that front wheel needs to be at least colour matched to the rear.
Just my opinion though :D

I thought so too, lol; That is why I bought it.
Seriously, the aftermarket parts are worth more than I paid for the bike. It was serendipity.

Your right, I have no idea why the front wheel was painted white, but it is a lot of work taking it off to paint it.
Look how rotor is mounted.

If I get the last set of rotors from Italy, I will paint the wheels to match.

have you considered finding out if the rear wheel manufacturer makes a front wheel to match the rear? if so, have the Italian rotors mounted on the matching front - that would complete it nicely!!

I know that bike! The owner of what used to be Motorsports World Suzuki (now Yamaha/MV Agusta) built that up. I know it went down to Brockville (or thereabouts) from Ottawa, and now I guess it's in Toronto! Enjoy it!
