Hey Guys

In a couple weeks i will be headed down to Florida with my family. We are gona trailer my Busa down behind my parents vehicle (following them in a car).

Im thinkin about taking a mini-trip once down there (being with them for two weeks straight im sure i will need a break!lol).

Im thinkin about crusing down to Miami, and then out to Key West. I will probably stay the night somewhere, but haven't decided where yet.

We are going to be staying on Longboat Key for 8 nights. Longboat Key is located in the Bradenton/Sarasota area.

I was curious if anyone was familiar with this area, and had any suggestion for scenics roads to take, or places i should avoid.

This will be the first trip of any distance on the bike. It rolled over 1100 miles yesterday, so im gona do a second service before we leave.

I live in Fort Lauderdale.
Streets to avoid, all of them. lol
You will notice as you drive south it gets worse. Personally I never drive in Miami. I95 is the highway with bike deaths almost everyday. VERY poor drivers in South Florida. Just be safe and ready to have drivers turn in front of you.
Also the police are at war with sport bikers due to a bike cop going down chasing a sportbike. I have been told from an officer friend that they are upset. Sound laws are also enforced. They will ticket loud exhaust near the beach.
Boy sounds negative but just trying to give you a heads up.
The best road to let the Busa breath is US27, many of us ride up to clewiston on 27. Also a nice ride around the lake.

75 runs east west and has it's share of police but a nice road across the everglades.
Do not be on that road at night. it is black as hell and gators hang out on the road, bad mix.

South Florida is beautiful but open roads are not easy to find. Ride early morning it is cooler and less traffic.
WEAR YOUR GEAR, no matter how hot!!
enjoy

:surprise:

Wow... lol... so i better watch it while im down there?

My bike is 100% stock right now, so hopefully if i use some common sense on how i ride, the cops will leave me alone.

Have you ever made the drive out to Key West?

Yes, the keys are nice. If the weather cooperates it's nice. Just take your time and enjoy the view, oh there will be plenty of Harley's to keep your speed in check lol
Around the fort lauderdale area taking A1A can be scenic. It runs along the beach. I ride it up to Jupiter sometimes.
Morning ride is key!
Enjoy and let me know when you are down.

With the possible exception of the Keys, I try to stay in the rural areas in the center of the state, continously looking for backroads.

in a recent 2wt magazine article it said there is a senator or congressman trying to pass a law that takes your license for 10 years for doing a wheelie. they are going after bikers big time. there are no nice roads! i lived in lauderdale and sarasota when i was younger. just straight roads where you can wheelie forever but with no real escape if your spotted. they used a stopwatch to time me going across the skyway bridge and wrote me a ticket!! lol
