I got a strange noise in my 02 Busa. Its like a chain noise when the engine is cold. And is worst around 1500-200rpm. When I get oil temp. the noise disappear... I have checked the CCTA and evererything seems OK. I also tryed a engine stethoscope to try to fint the sourse of the noise, and I cant hear the sound in the clutch, Cam Chain or the valves. Do you got any idea what it could be??? Is it somthing that are normal?

if you feel confident in your check cool, i would suggest the following: my 1st guess and most likely
you may have an exhaust leak that will sound like that or check SHIMS are loose?

It might me the exhaust, When I used the engine stethoscope I could not hear anything that sound like a discord sound in the top cover. BUT, will the exhaust sound disappear when the engine get hot?

Ok, since you are saying it goes away when the busa warms up, i am now thinking valves, when the valves get hot they expand and stop rattling, if your busa is idling low you will here it more, also CAM Chain? you said you checked the CCT?

I have checked it, and seems ok. I cant hear anything from the cam chain or from the sylinder head that compare to the noise... its very strange...
With the engine stethoscope I should hear if it was something..?! I do on other engines. I hate strange noices that are inexplicable...

Ok, 1st what is your busa idleling at? you may have to set it properly 1st =1,150 rpms, you may have a loose valve, A solution may be to increase oil preasure via a HIGH VOLUME OIL PUMP GEAR (located behind the clutch basket) increase flow to the head.??? your thoughts? that noise to me sounds like a loose valve.

Ok. I will dismount the top cover tomorrow and check the valves and the chims. Then I also can check if the chain is loose?!... Or, buy a new bike ;P

Gues what... It was the oil. After checked the valves and all was very fine! I had to try to change from Valvoline to MOBIL. It worked ;)
