i have been miffed @ the Stealership costs of the new 08 haysbusa @12.999 base price and have been ranting about the over 16K price out the door and was  at how well the CDN $ was doing , yet up here in Canada we are getting screwed still and had perhaps thought a Roadtrip was in order to get my 08 in orange. I wondered if this was possible and worth the hassle and energy and cost to do this, my Friend Tony(08Busa) from Vancouver just had the same issue and actually went over to Washington and got his 08 and shared with me all the information, documents required to do so. Txs I thought i would share the info with all of you and Courtesy of 08Busa.:smoke:here is 08Busas write up to me:

"You could be right. I know that there is one Black Busa and a B-King on display at Richmond Motorsports, but I don't know if either has been bought. These were put on display last Tuesday apparently, November 20th, 2007.
I had a problem sending an e-mail last week, so I don't know if anyone got this, but I bought mine in the State of Washington and imported it to Vancouver as soon as it arrived in the States Early November. It's sitting in the garage, next to my 82 Katana 1100, and my DR650. Canadian Dealers are only now waking up to the fact that Canadian bikers won't be taken for fools. You should now be able to pick up a 08 Busa from a Canadian dealer for CDN$ 15,000.00 INCLUDING all taxes and Dealer Prep, although I would tell them what they can do with that as well. Canadian bikers have been ripped off for too long.
By the way, I gave them all a chance here in Vancouver back in August before going ahead with my purchase in the US. I have to say that I have been impressed with the attention to details from the US dealer, right down to a FULL tank of gas!
It's little things like these that make me stick to a dealer for any future business. Our cousins in the USA just know how to take care of customers.
I also have a letter from Suzuki Canada indicating that the Warranty is valid here as well. Given the Canadian Dealer's attitudes though, I might just keep going Stateside for service anyway. Since this is a Suzuki, I would venture to say that I won't have too many problems anyway warranty wise."

"Hello Duane,

To bring the Busa in you need to factor in the GST, PST, RIV fee which is mandatory for all imports and is the Registrar of Imported Vehicles' fee of $195.00 + GST in all provinces except Quebec where it is $195.00 + GST and QST, and 6.1% duty for a NON AMERICAN motorcycle. You also have Broker fees and transportation fees if you want someone to sit at the border on your behalf, so figure on another 800 dollars total for both the Brokers and Transportation, so you should be able to save here as well. In my case, the US dealer DID NOT charge me Dealer Prep fees, and since the bike was being trailered up to Vancouver, there were no US taxes involved. By the time the dust settles (still waiting for my Visa bill) This 08 Busa will have cost me in total just under CDN 14,100.00
This is in part because I cashed in Canadian dollars on 07 November 2007 when the Canadian dollar was at an all time peak. With the exchange the way it is, today, please do the math, since the Canadian Dealers are finally waking up, their attitudes might be softening a bit by default. Their attitude was what caused me to shop Stateside in the first place, and I got lucky with the exchange rate as well. Having said this, I would recommend anybody close to the border look into what they can get a 08 Busa for. As much as I love the first generation Busas, the impression I got was that the US dealers think the second generation will be selling at full retail for a while, unless the US economy slumps badly enough that by next spring you might even be able to work the price down somewhat, but DON'T BET ON IT. I'm going down to the Seattle Bike Show this coming weekend to see what the general feel is on sales.

Here's a good link to read for anyone interested:

Don't forget the "recall" letter required as well. So far no recalls on the 08 Busa, but you need that letter form American Suzuki in Brea, California."

Tony

Hello Folks,
If anyone had the chance to get a recall letter from American Suzuki in order to register the bike in Canada could send me a copy of the letter, I would appretiate that so very much. I have a GSX1300 year 2007 with salvage title and American Suzuki refuses to issue any recall letter for my bike because the title is salvage. I am stuk with my bike in Canada and can't do anything without the letter. I really need your help guys.

Thanks,

MK

welcome to the site:cheers:, salvage title is from where? issued in Montreal? they have different salvage laws there then Ontario, even to bring a salvaged bike from Montreal to Ontario to get registered is a huge PITA:head meets wall: all work, parts require every reciept etc.... Perhaps an alternative plan may be to sell the busa where you are @ and then buy when you relocate? seems like a lot less headaches-Duane

It's an Indiana Salvage Title. I used to live in Indiana for 4 years but I am back home (Montreal)now. I have already imported the bike to Canada, Montreal. There's nothing to modify. The bike is admisible in Canada. There will definitely be an inspection but I am pretty sure that my busa will pass it with no problem. All I need is recall letter from Suzuki. I can't sell the bike because I have spent a lot on this bike and there's no way that I can get even close to my money. What I am looking for is an example of a recall letter issued by American Suzuki. I talked to a local Suzuki dealer, they verified and there's no recall on busa 2007. They are willing to give me a letter but they just don't know what to write on the letter. If someone who has already gotten one can send me a copy, I am gonna be good to go. My email address is runbigtime@yahoo.com. . It's gonna be more headaches for me if I want to take the bike to US and sell it there. Please help if you can.

Thanks,

RT

I would assume that a Canadian 2009 meets the usa emissions( EXCLUDING CALF.) and safety standards .

The only way you will know 100 % is check with US CUSTOMS to be sure and have all the details.
