G'day, the below quote is email correspondence from Yoshimura re: general questions on the C/F R-77 & TRC systems

"Carbon is not UV resistant so those who leave their bikes outside will
see the carbon fade over time. The carbon endcaps especially have a
tendency to discolor due to the amount of heat coming out of the exhaust".

I'm just wondering if anyone who has been running C/F cans for a while has experienced this & to what extent. Also does C/F give off better sound compared to SS?

Thanks

I have had CF cans, yosh, hindle and i have not experienced this, if you park your busa out side in the sun daily without a cover i could see it fading as well as cracking i have experienced, the CF is just a sleeve that goes over the ti, alum, stainless can, heat and vibration can cause it to fade, crack etc.....

I had 2 brothers racing carbon can on my 01 busa, after 3 or 4 yrs, it turned a light color, kinda like a light grey/redish. sounded good but looked like ass.... I am still going with carbon again but the carbon is better than it was 5 yrs ago. just go to a dealer look at the used bikes, or a bike show and look at the bikes with a few yrs on them.... check out the cans and see for yourself.

I never really had an issue with fading, although I go through pipes so quickly I probably never give mine a chance to sit in the sun long enough.

I would think a light coat of wax every now and then wouldn't hurt to protect ?
