K8's blowing up engines

Hey whats up fellas. Just wanted to see if anyone had heard about this rumor. I have a buddy down in Deleware. He said every year they have a competition called King of the East coast at one of the tracks in Delemont. Well he said this year alot of guys had K8's. He said one thing he will give it to them about is that they are very, very fast. It was his first time seeing them in action. But he said he is very surprised at the top end peformance and not a GOOD surprised. He said that 5 guys with K8's blew their engines on the track. he said that could not be a good trend and that he is guessing that since it is new this year Suzuki is going to have some kinks to work outfor the 09' on the parts handling the power.

+1, if they are spraying(NOS) or boosting(turbo) and are not set up correctly, the GenII K8's will be having major issues such as the new Ti-valves etc. Thats all i have heard along with a rod issue????

all i can say is everytime i've been to any drag race i've seen lots of engines blow up..my factory mechanic 22yrs with suzuki just serviced 2 K8's with over 30,000 miles on them!! not a thing wrong with either one and he said he's heard nothing about rod problem from suzuki.. i guess it's just rumor

I've yet to see anyone post up that they have blow up a K8. Unless they are heavily modded or running Turbo/Nitrous, I can't image what would go wrong since they really didn't change anything from 1999. All the mods on the 08 people have been doing for YEARS without any issues on the 99-07 model... :cool:

Now, as Tybalt correctly observes, if some clown is dicking up their powerplant by doing crazy shit to it, NOS and crap, etc without doing it properly, that's one thing.

But the thread title does not suggest this is all happening at the dragstrip; it infers any old K8 is going to blow a motor. That's patently bullshit.... I have yet to hear a serious issue with the K8 powperplant, and believe me, I keep an eye out for this kind of thing.

Last year when the bike came out my buddy & I did numerous topend runs on his 08.. The bike hauls @$$ & has been rock solid. Numerous rollons & repeated hot lap 1/4 mile runs 2 weeks ago. Never missed a beat.
