Okay, I know this should go under "Top Speed", but not too many people look there so I figured I would get better traffic under this forum.
Unlike the Gen I bikes, the Gen II's do not have cotter pins on the rear axle nut. I am getting the bike ready for racing in the Texas Mile and of course one of the safety requirements is, "Rear Axels must have cotter pin, clip, or safety wire to retain nut in place".
So what are you guys doing or what have you done for the rear axle nut? :umm:
Thanks,
Joe

i dont know about the 08s but i replaced the axle nut on mine with a gilles titantium nut with a set screw on it.

i have seen road racers drill a hole through the nut and pen and run safty wire through it.

I am really worried about screwing up the threads on the axle....my luck, I will drill through the nut and the axle and will never be able to get the nut off the axle. Ha!

I posted this on H.org also.
Just take the axle out and screw the nut on. Tap your hole and drill it straight through. Next, clean up the threads real good with an xacto knife and unscrew the nut off. It will clear the threads right up...

Thank you so much! Do you by chance remember the size of the nut that you ordered?
Thanks Again,

With the T-Shirt too! I have not forgotten...I promise. I just wanted my first pic to be with all the goodies on...okay, mainly the exhaust (which is on) and the Marchesini rims (which are still on backorder). :not worthy:
