What is your feelings on running mismatched tires. I have heard it isnt a good idea. But my 07 is due for a rear and the front still looks new. I want to go with the Avon Storm but dont want to replace both front and rear.

im guilty of doing it:roll eyes: I would rather put a complete fresh set front and back. gives me a sence of confidence knowing i have a complete good set then worrying when your front will wear? IMO invest in a new set, i have gotten a set of new tires for $300 TMD:thumbs up:

I've been doing it off & on for 22 years .....granted it's noticeable with some mis-matched sets and some it's not. Mainly, it's only noticeable when laying her over in the corners. Right now I have a Shinko front with an Avon Storm rear .....keep a softer tire on the front !

Any quality brand of performance tire has been designed to provide fairly adequate traction when leaned over though some definitely inspire greater confidence than others near the limit.

It really doesn't make any difference what combo of tire manufacturers you use, you simply must remember that your handling performance is only as good as your least quality tire. Front and rear suspensions on motorcycles function entirely independent from one another, so they don't have to be matching tires.

As mentioned previously, if anything, use a higher traction tire in the front, as rear tire slippage is fairly easy to recover from whereas front tire washout often leads to crash damage.

Many times I will only use a Pirelli Diablo on the rear, but I ALWAYS use a Pirelli Diablo Corsa on the front. The regular Diablo wears a little longer on the rear and the greater traction from the Diablo Corsa up front allows supreme and confident handling.

Naturally, everyone has their own opinion on tires, so do whatever pleases you..., but I won't be changing to any other tire type while Pirelli Diablo Corsas (and now the Corsa III's) are available. These are fantastic street tires.
